Vermont Looking To Pay You $10,000 To Move In

June 1, 2018

If you'd like to trade mosquitoes, hurricanes and sinkholes for cold winters, fall foliage and Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, the state of Vermont is looking for you to move in and it could earn you $10,000!  The state is looking to counter its aging population and give the tax base a much-needed boost by offering cash to 100 new workers each year from 2019 to 2021, and 20 new workers will be supported each subsequent year. To qualify, you must be a full-time employee of a business based outside of Vermont and primarily work from home or out of a co-working space. Grant recipients will receive up to $5000 per year, based on their individual expenses, and up to $10,000 total throughout the course of the program. But if you're not ready for a full time commitment to Vermont, you can try the state's Stay to Stay Weekends program, which connects visitors with local employers and realtors to give you a feel for the neighborhood and potential jobs that might make the decision to move easy.
