You complained, and Instagram listened. The popular social media app says it will make changes to its algorithm-based feed.

Yes, your photo feed is about to return to more of a chronological feed, instead of that algorithm-feed, which never seemed to show you the photos you wanted to see.

The social media giant changed the way that posts were distributed to users back in 2016. At the time, the upgrade was made to show users content that the algorithm decided you would "care about the most."

Since that announcement, users have bemoaned the changes. In fact, many of us have felt like we're missing posts from our friends.

Today's news will be rolled in two different ways, according to Instagram. Instagram, by the way, is owned by Facebook.

Starting today, there will be a "new posts" button on the app that will let you choose when you want to refresh. "Tap the button and you’ll be taken to new posts at the top of feed — don’t tap, and you’ll stay where you are," they wrote online

The other changes will involve an overall refresh of the news feed. The site promises that newer posts will be more likely to appear first in your feed.

"With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about," the company says.

We'll see how this looks, but hopefully this means that we can now see photos of our friends on vacation AS SOON as they post them.
