July 20, 2016

The man who created, produced, acted and directed some of our favorite TV show and movies has passed away. Garry Marshall died around 5pm Tuesday afternoon from complications from pneumonia, according to a spokeswoman for the PR firm, Rogers & Cowan.  Gary Marshall created 14 TV series including some of the most popular sitcoms from the 70s and 80s like Happy Days, The Odd Couple, Mork & Mindy and Laverne & Shirley, which starred his younger sister, Penny Marshall.  He also directed a slew of movies including the 1990 romantic comedy, Pretty Woman, starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, for which Roberts received a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination. His most recent film was in April of this year,  Mother's Day, which reunited him with Julia Roberts.

Garry had been hospitalized recently after suffering a stroke.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara and their 3 children.

Thanks for all the memories, Garry!  May you Rest In Peace.
