The Benefits Of Salt Lamps

April 2, 2018

The soft pink-orange light glowing from a salt lamp not only looks pretty but it ionizing the air around it and purifies the air.  But is that true?  Maybe.  The problem is there isn't enough studies to confirm or deny the air purification claims.  In 1998 there was a study published that suggested negative ions could help reduce the effects of seasonal affective disorder and chronic depression. But the reality is there aren’t any studies suggesting the lamps provide anywhere near the levels of negative ions to have an effect, and when salt lamps were tested for negative ion output, they found so few it was hard to measure. That doesn’t mean the people who have experienced benefits are entirely wrong, though. Essentially, if a person believes the salt lamps will help, there’s a psychological component to their issue, and thus the lamp does relieve some of their symptoms even if it's just a placebo effect.
