Avoid Cheap Flip-Flops!

June 20, 2017

IIf Florida had an official shoe, it would be the flip-flop.  However the shoe of summer has a long history of being horrible for your feet, in turn causing them to ache and problems elsewhere on your body. Podiatrists say flip-flops offer flat, very thin and offer little support and stability, which can lead to inflammation, tendonitis, and ankle sprain  as well as causing your toes to over-grip the strap between you big and index toe, causing foot cramps and bunions. But it's not all doom and gloom for flip-flops. Doctors recommend switching out of flip-flops occasionally for a more supportive shoe or sandal.  When it comes to choosing your flip-flops, avoid the cheaper versions which are usually flat, thin and offer little support.  Choose flip-flops with a thicker sole, thicker toe strap, supportive arches and plenty of cushion.
