With 60% of our bodies made up of water, it sounds right that you should drink eight 8-oz glasses of water a day to keep hydrated.  For the record, here is no scientific evidence that pinpoints precisely how much fluid is the optimal amount rather the 8 glasses a day is just a guide. More accurately, women should drink around 2.2 liters of beverages per day while men should consume 3 liters.  But what if you go over that amount? A new study finds that the body beings to protect itself from taking in too many liquids when it’s not necessary needed at the moment by making it harder to swallow.  Participants in a study found that it was 3 times more difficult to drink water after consuming recommended amounts and when they were not thirsty.  In other words, your body will tell you when it’s thirsty.  It is still a good idea to force yourself to choose water over other types of beverages but never fear, when your body has had enough liquids, it will become like a cat on a leash and throw up roadblocks.
