Why We Get Sleepy When We're Bored Explained

It's happened to everyone at some point...you get so bored you just fall asleep. But why does this happen? New research published in the journal Nature Communications finds a part of the brain associated with both motivation and pleasure can also produce sleep. This may explain why we have the tendency to fall asleep in the absence of motivating stimuli, or when bored. The hope is this discovery could lead to new and safe treatments for insomnia.
