As often as you use earbuds there's a good chance you haven't clean them and that could lead to ear infections, ear fungus, pimples and boils.  Studies have shown that earbuds cause an 11-fold increase in bacteria in the ears because besides going in your ear, earbuds linger on workout benches, restaurant tables or even your kitchen floor and all that contact without cleaning can be gross. So make it a habit to clean your earbuds on a regular basis.  For those without pads, use a gentle cleaner, like soap and warm water.  Don't submerge your earbuds in water either.  Use a cloth to apply the soap and water. For earbuds with removable silicone covers, clean both the cover and earbuds.  Of course, clean them when they are not connected to device.
