Turmeric Can Improve Your Workout

February 8, 2018

Looking for a little extra from your workout?  Feeling tired is a top reason people use to excuse themselves from the gym.  But rather than chug down an energy drink or take a scoop of pre-workout mix, head to your kitchen, open up the spice rack and reach for the turmeric. The yellow spice commonly found in curry, turmeric contains a substance called curcumin. Research shows that taking a turmeric or curcumin supplement can significantly lower your levels of fatigue, and in turn, boost your overall energy. Turmeric boosts brain power in general because it increases the levels of growth hormone in your brain and therefore increases your mind's ability to function and focus efficiently, which might be exactly what you need to power through those last few reps during a difficult workout. Plus turmeric is great after your workout. Another awesome benefit that comes with turmeric is its ability to soothe sore muscles. As long as you're including the spice in your diet in one form or another, your muscles will feel great, your mind will be clear and focused, and even your joints will feel healthy. However many people aren't a fan of the strong and distinct smell of turmeric, so a capsule supplement may be the way to go.
