Although a desk job seems like it would be easier than a stand-up job, like in retail, but sitting all day can leave you exhausted.  The key to boosting your energy at your desk?  According to new research is to get up and walk around for a few minutes at a time throughout the day. University of Colorado researchers took a few desk jockeys that were not typically not very active during the day and broke them into three groups.  The first sit for 6 straight hours, only getting up for bathroom breaks.  The second group exercised for 30 minutes on a treadmill in the morning before sitting for the rest of the 6-hour period.  The third group also sit for 6 hours but got up every hour for 5 minutes of exercising; totaling 30 minutes for the day.  The results found those who were part of group 2 and 3 said they had more energy than the group that sat all day. In addition, when the participants engaged in short bouts of activity throughout the day, they reported a better mood and lower levels of fatigue and food cravings at the end of the day, compared to when they exercised only in the morning and when they sat all day.
