This is going to come as a shock for lovers of Halo Top ice cream, now teh country's most popualr ice cream brand.

The low-calorie, high-protein ice cream seems to be a dream come true of a healthy ice cream.  With 280 calories, 10 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, 160 mg of cholesterol,  20 grams of sugar and 20 grams of protein.  It appears to be much healthier than the 1,040 calories, 68 grams of fat, 40 grams of saturated fat, 360 mg of cholesterol and 76 grams of sugar of regular ice cream. However it is still ice cream and should be consumed as such.  The benefits of a lower calorie ice cream that tastes like ice cream (thanks to Stevia and sugar alcohols) goes without question.  But that sugar alcohol and any combination of the other half of dozen ingredients (compared to four or five in regular ice cream) can cause indigestion issues.  In any case, make sure to enjoy it like a dessert, as an occasional treat, not a staple of your diet.
