Texas Animal Shelters Seeking Pet Foster Families

As the cleanup from Hurricane Harvey begins in Texas, at least 30,000 Texans have been rendered homeless and forced into temporary shelters. Many of those shelters do not have the room for the pets of those inside, leaving thousands of animals homeless.  But there is something you can do to help, foster a pet until it can be reunited with its owners.  Several animal shelters, including the Texas SPCA and Austin Pets Alive have sent out a plea for pet foster families.  Local shelters are beyond capacity and need homes for pets for the next several weeks until their owners can be found and more importantly, the owners are able to care for them at home. A quick application needs to be completed at each agency and transportation costs would need to be covered by you.  If fostering isn't quite right for you, Texas animal agencies are in need of funds for food, shelter and medical care of the displaced animals.
