Summer Hair Loss is Real

June 12, 2017

Experts say: Summer hair loss is a real thing. Just as your pet might shed their coat at different times of the year, you too may soon be shedding some extra hair. Dr. Francesca Fusco, a medical and cosmetic dermatologist in New York City, said hair loss through August and October is just evolutionary. Dr. Fusco said, " The scalp holds onto the hair during the sunniest months to protect the head from sunburns. Then in the early fall, late summer, it naturally begins to fall away." She maintains that it's based on geography, not your body. And different parts of the world will have different peak hair shedding seasons based on the time of year.
