Now that spring is here and summer is just around the corner, our clothing options change from long pants and jeans to shorts and swimsuits.  For many it simply means it's time to resume shaving on legs, backs and armpits.  While it is convenient to do this in the shower make sure you are not just using shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in place of shaving cream. Although it may save you time and money, dermatologist Dr. Anita Sturnham has some insight for you.  Starting with the benefits of shaving cream, they are designed to improve razor glide, reduce friction, and the risk of irritation and cuts to your skin. Shampoos and conditioners are designed to coat hair, making them thicker and when it comes to shaving, thicker hair dulls the blade faster.  As for body washes, they can linger on the body and the blades, which can cause friction and increases your chances of a nick or cut.
