A recent survey found the average American will spend $906 on Christmas gifts this season.  That's a lot of money and when it comes to buying gifts for children it can be easily to overindulge in the hopes your children get what they want and do not have a disappointing Christmas. But there is a growing trend of parents who use the "rule of 4" when it comes to gifts: One gift they want, one gift they need, one gift to wear and one gift to read. Parents who say they've implemented the "rule of 4" say that less is more in that kids really played and used them more, compared to when they’d get 12 things and they’d get bored with half of them after a couple of days.
