Rotten eggs may have finally found some respect as researchers say the gas given off by rotten eggs could stop heart disease in people with diabetes. Scientist have found that hydrogen sulphide, the stink of rotten eggs and kid's stink bombs, seems to repair damage done to cells caused by prolonged exposure to high levels of blood sugar, that line the inside of blood vessels Tiny amounts of the gas seems to reduce the inflammation and reverses the restriction of blood flow. So far, the drug (known as AP123) has been tested only on mice, but scientists at Exeter University who developed it hope to begin human trials within the next few years. Heart disease in patients with type 2 diabetes is a leading cause of death.
