Police Post Pumpkin Lineup As Teens Caught Stealing Several Squashes

October 27, 2017

They were caught orange-handed, three teens were arrested for allegedly stealing dozens of pumpkins from the front porches of a St. Louis, Missouri suburb of Maryland heights earlier this month. Several residents reported their pumpkins missing from their porches and police were able to quickly track down the thieves.  The police report showed the teens SUV was filled from top to bottom with pumpkins.  While two of the teens was charged with misdemeanor stealing, the Maryland Heights police had the duty of returning all of the stolen pumpkins to their rightful owners.  Not knowing where to start, they ended up posting a pumpkin lineup online and encouraging residents to claim their stolen property. The switchboard lit up as the department was “inundated" with people coming to track down their Halloween pumpkins. About a dozen remained unclaimed as of this week. Fortunately none are carved.
