Pinky The Dancing Flamingo Attacked-Euthanized Due To Injuries

August 4, 2016

Many are shocked, saddened and upset that an Orlando man allegedly attacked the beloved, Pinky the Dancing Flamingo, at Tampa's Busch Gardens Tuesday evening and injured it so badly she had to be euthanized.  Police say witnesses were shocked at the actions of 45 year old Joseph Anthony Corrao Tuesday evening at Busch Gardens’ Jambo Junction animal viewing area.  There with his mother, brother and three teenage children, Corrao allegedly reached inside an animal pen and picked up a flamingo.  People in the park began to tell Corrao to leave the animals alone.  That is when he let the flamingo go and grabbed a second, which turned out to be the flamingo who dances the flamenco in many park attraction videos.  For some reason, slammed Pinky to the ground so severely that her leg was nearly severed.  The decision to put down the bird was made based on the severity of her injuries, a spokesperson for Busch Gardens announced. Corrao was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony, and bonded out of jail Wednesday morning.
