Ocala Man Accused Of Throwing His Dog Into Traffic

December 1, 2016

The community is coming together in well wishes for a dog that was purposely thrown at moving cars, twice!  According to the Ocala Police Department reports, awoman was driving on SW 24th Avenue Tuesday evening when she allegedly saw 55 year old Michael Lee Britton, holding the dog in his hands and hurling it at her car as she drove by, which struck her car and the car's tire ran over the dog's leg.  After pulling over to check on the dog, she saw Britton pick up the dog and threw it again at another moving car.  The dog was taken to a veterarian emergency clinic, where the Australian shepherd was treated for internal injuries and is being cared for at the Humane Society.  Britton claimed the dog he owned was struck inthe heart by an arrow and was trying to ease it suffering, however officers and vets saw no evidence of an arrow injuring the dog.  Several Ocala police officers have donated money for teh recovery of teh dog, they now call Buck, with one officer hoping to adopt Buck once he recovers.  Britton was arrested on charges of aggravated animal cruelty, assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest without violence.
