Nail Polishes To Avoid While Pregnant

November 3, 2017

The news that a woman is expecting a child usually involves some sort of celebration, for instance a mani/pedi.  There has been a lot of talk of harmful chemicals in nail polish that may harm your child, such as formaldehyde, toluene and DBP (dibutyl phthalate), which could affect the reproduction system, respiratory, and immune systems. The good news is that many nail polishes are now "3-free," which means they're free from those harmful chemicals and overall better for all.  To be safe, make sure to inquire about the nail polish being used and take the time to look at ingredient lists before purchasing nail polish. Natural polish ingredients such as silica, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate and nitrocellulose all occur in nature and are deemed safe.
