Recently professional DJs were asked which songs are banned from wedding receptions by the wedded couple.  Top of the list is the Chicken Dance with 23% of receptions flat out banning the song from playing.  Followed by Cha-Cha Slide, Macarena, Cupid Shuffle and YMCA. The Electric Slide, the Hokey Pokey, the Wobble also make tops on the no-no list.  Among the reasons for these being banned are that many couples want to avoid line dances, inappropriate lyrics and kitschy styles. Certain artists also make the list. 6% of wedding have banned Justin Bieber songs, with Backstreet Boys, Bruno Mars, Rick James, Rihanna, Sir Mix-A-Lot and War coming close to the . As for banned music genres, 10% of receptions banned country music and 3% banned rap music. 5% of wedding have a no request rule and a maximum artist set guideline was imposed as well.  Although it may sound like couples are nit-picking, over 80% of couples have implemented two to seven rules for the DJ to follow at their reception.
