While matching five numbers will be slightly easier with the field numbers dropping from 75 to 70, while matching the Mega Ball goes from selecting one out of 15 numbers to matching one out of 25 numbers.  That means your odds of winning the jackpot will go from one in 259 million to one in 303 million.Other changes include higher payouts for partial matches, such as a $5,000 increase to $10,000 for matching four numbers and the Mega Ball all the down to a $2 payout for matching only the Mega Ball number, which is up from $1. While the costs go up and the odds of winning go down, the new pricing system is expected to speed up jackpot growth and boost the likelihood of a jackpot reaching $1 billion, which aids in ticket sales.
