The Media Diet Pyramid

Most people are familiar with the food pyramid, the triangular diagram representing the optimal number of servings to be eaten each day from each of the basic food groups. But it doesn't necessarily have to do with food, at least for one person.  A guy named Faris Yakob has developed a Media Diet Pyramid in which he outlines which media we should be consuming per day. Based on a 12 hour day, he’s created a suggested consumption of categories.  At the top of the media pyramid are ideologically driven shows and web sites.  They're the junk food of media. You can safely consume a half hour of social media, online porn, and "rolling news consumption sites" like CNN and The New York Post. Interaction media like text, email, and broadcast TV are next on the pyramid, which suggest you devote an hour of less of your off time.  Participation media such as games and Netflix get two hours. As we get near the bottom, the second to last stop is for edification. Media outlets that are educational, hobbies, non-fiction and true journalism gets three hours a day.  Finally is actualization, such as reading a book, playing a board game, talking to someone and other interpersonal items are limitless.
