Man Who Robbed Bank To Get Away From His Wife Gets An Unwelcomed Sentence

June 15, 2017

Oh the irony!  Back in September, 70-year old Lawrence John Ripple had an argument with his wife, in what we can only assume it was over money.  That's because Lawrence robbed Brotherhood Bank Trust in Kansas City, Kansas, by handing the teller a note stating he had a gun and demanded money.  But once Lawrence received $2,924 worth of cash, he simply sat in the bank's lobby and told the security guard that he was the "guy he was looking for." Once police arrived, Lawrence was arrested and charged with bank robbery.  As to why he robbed the bank, he told investigators that he'd "rather be in jail than at home" with his wife. However the judge in the case wanted Lawrence to suffer for his crime.  This week he was sentenced to 50 hours of community service and six months of home confinement.
