With all the news of children accidently eating laundry pods, and even those doing it on purpose as part of a challenge, it's becoming apparent that the dangers of them outweigh the convenience they provide.  But we've stumbled upon a DIY recipe to create your own laundry pods that are not only safer but cheaper! All you need to get started are these ingredients: Washing Soda (Soda Ash), Epsom salt, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, non-chlorine whitening powder and your favorite essential oil.  Simply measure out the washing soda, whitening powder and Epson salt into a mixing bowl. Then add the hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and essential oil and mix until it resembles wet sand and clump together when pressed. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and use tablespoon measuring spoon to scoop up p the mixture, press against the side of bowl, then tap out onto the sheet. Let the pod dry for 8 to 10 hours and you're ready to go.  Use one homemade pod for small loads and two for larger. The recipe makes about 28 pods, which clean your clothes without all the chemicals!
