We're find out more benefits of cleaning with baking soda every day.  From laundry to dishes, this do-it-all powder can also be a good way to get bad smells out of your carpet and furniture. While fragranced baking soda products at the grocery store can freshen up your carpets, they use artificial ingredients to achieve that scent. But never fear, you can make your own carpet cleaner that not only is better for your nose and lungs and cheaper too!  Start with a cup of baking soda and add 10 to 15 drops of your favorite essential oil. Store your mixture in a shaker jar that you would use for sugar or salt.  When ready, sprinkle the mixture generously over the carpet or rug and let it sit. The longer you can allow the baking soda to sit, the better it can work to absorb odors—if you can afford to leave it on the carpet for a few hours or even overnight, you'll really reap the benefits. Then vacuum it up.  If you're in a time pinch, let the baking soda and essential oil mixture sit on your carpets and rugs for at least 15 minutes for a little deodorizing boost. Remember to use a test area first to make sure you are not ruining your carpet or rug.
