The Gainesville community is being asked to help keep the North Central Florida YMCA open as time is running out for the cash-strapped organization to avoid going out of business.  The Y needs to raise $1.5 million to pay off its debt and keep the doors open.  So far the community has raised about $850,000 for the not-for profit that provides childcare, sports, aquatics, performing arts and wellness programs to about 2,000 children and 1,800 seniors a year.  The North Central Florida YMCA still needs about $650,000 by next Tuesday or may have to close down.
