No doubt that an afternoon coffee can boost your brain's activity but with temperatures approaching 90 and the humidity just as high, many of us will opt for a cold coffee.  But do cold coffees offer as much caffeine as its hot cousin?  No is the answer.  Although caffeine content can vary between brands and roasts, generally hot water causes more caffeine to leach out from the bean than cold water. However cold brew coffee is made with a higher ratio of coffee to water (about 2 1/2 more), which brings up the caffeine kick, but as you add milk or water when served, it brings that caffeine level right back down.
