Internet Dating Leading To Stronger Marriages

The internet is where many hook-ups begin, but it turns out it's also where many marriages begin. A new study from economics professors in England and Austria reveals more than one-third of marriages these days begin online. With the birth of Apple's iPhone in 2007, dating apps became ridiculously popular, and today online dating is by far the most popular form of finding love over the more traditional methods of meeting in school, hookups through friends and hitting the singles bar. Even better are those online matches are leading to stronger marriages and commitments. According to a 2013 study , of couples who got together online, 5.9% broke up, versus 7.6% of those who met offline and of 19,131 couples who met online and got married, only around 7% were either separated or divorced. The overall U.S. divorce rate is 40% to 50%.
