A staple of the dinner table are mashed potatoes but get ready for this revelation, most likely you've been preparing them wrong all these years.  Yes, even your parents made them wrong and perhaps your grandparents!  The procedure is simple enough.  Peel the potatoes, boil in water, drain, and mix in milk butter and seasoning.  But according to Food Network Chef Tyler Florence, we shouldn't be adding milk at the end but rather than boil in water, we should be boiling them in milk.  He explains that potatoes have a really delicate, beautiful minerality to their flavor profile. So when you cook potatoes in water and you pour that water down the drain, you've extracted all the flavor of the potato. His recipe for mashed potatoes calls for you to add the milk/cream, butter and seasonings as you bring them to a boil. Apparently these are the most delicious mashed potatoes ever and fill your kitchen with an incredibly delicious smell. Here is the recipe [CLICK HERE>!
