Kids scratching their heads can send a wave of fear into any parent as it's the universal sign of head lice. What makes it even scarier is head lice are growing more resistant to many of the over-the-counter and prescription chemicals that used to kill them. However there may be a better way to treat for head lice and it doesn't even involve a trip to the drug store.  One mom shared her recipe after her daughter caught head lice and over-the-counter treatments failed, she used apple cider vinegar and olive oil. Rinse your child's hair with apple cider vinegar as it dissolves the glue that otherwise helps lice eggs nest in the hair shaft.  Next, lather olive oil all over their hair, put on a shower cap, and leave it on overnight.  Apparently the lice suffocates after being trapped in the oil.  The whole treatment takes about five hours after rinsing out the vinegar and oil.  Repeat within a week if necessary.  Not only is this treatment much easier on your child's scalp and air, it costs considerably less.
