Harvard Withdraws Admission for Offensive Memes

June 6, 2017

Harvard University has withdrawn it's acceptance offers for at least 10 incoming freshman over offensive memes they were discovered to be sharing through a Facebook chat group. The Harvard Crimson reports that the memes shared in the chat group joked about subjects including sexual assault, the Holocaust, children's deaths and certain ethnic and racial groups. The chat group was formed as an offshoot of the offical Harvard College Class of 2021 Facebook group affiliated with the University. The Crimson cited a university spokesperson as saying that one of the conditions under which Harvard can rescind an admissions offer is, "if an admitted student engages or has engaged in behavior that brings into question their honesty, maturity or moral character."
