The Ocala Police Department is partnering with The Villages Public Safety Department and Safe Kids Florida will host a child car seat safety checks tomorrow (saturday, September 24, 2016)  from 10am to 2pm at The Villages Public Safety Department Station No. 44, at 3035 Morse Blvd. Free hot dogs, Sparky The Fire Dog and a 1963 LaFrance antique ladder fire truck are all part of the safety check.  Education on where to place seats based on the child's age as well as instructions on how to properly install and place a child in car seats are aimed at keeping kids safe and parents and caregivers informed.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 59% of car seats are not properly installed and are misused and that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for kids through 12 years old.
