It's no secret that law enforcement agencies have used social media to trick people into turning themselves in for possessing illegal drugs.  But just as our Nigerian prince friend is still is able to access bank accounts in America, the method is effective.  Just as 49-year old Douglas Kelly of Hawthorne.  According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Kelly contacted the sheriff’s office to inquire if the agency would be willing to test his stash of methamphetamine and to press charges against the seller as Kelly believed he had been sold the wrong drug.  Last week Kelly had a violent reaction when smoking the illegal drug and must've felt like he had got a bad deal.  But detectives at the Putnam County Sheriff's Office were quick to invite Kelly to bring the substance in question for testing and they'd take it from there.  So Kelly made the trip to the Sheriff's with the clear, crystal-like substance wrapped in aluminum foil. The good news is the field test confirmed indeed the substance was methamphetamine. The bad news is that Kelly was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. He was walked to the Putnam County Jail. The sheriff's office Facebook post reminded everyone that their detectives would be happy to assist anyone who believes they were misled in their illegal drug purchase.
