If you have a Concealed Weapon Permit, you may want to monitor your personal information for any unusual activity.  The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said that hackers outside of the United States have obtained information on more than 16,000 concealed weapon permit holders. Fortunately, the data breach for most was nothing more than information already available as public record.  However about 469 people did have their social security information stolen. The state will offer one year of free credit protection for those people.  No financial information was breached and the data breach affects less than 1% of those with licenses, with the state insisting no other individually identifying information was stolen. The state has also launched an investigation into its cyber security. Remember that you can obtain a free annual copy of your credit report from all three reporting agencies by visiting annualcreditreport.com and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
