Fleeing Criminal Gets Struck In Florida Swamp

April 23, 2018

It's never a good idea to run from the law, especially with as many swamps as we have in Florida.  Last week a deputy with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office spotted a vehicle speeding on Hwy 41 and attempted to stop it.  The driver proceeded to lead a chase for a short time that ended when he stopped his car and began to flee on foot into the woods. Unfortunately the woods harbored a swamp and after the K-9 unit was dispatched, iota took no time to find the man.  However he was submerged up to his head in the sinking swamp.  It took several deputies working together to pull the driver out of the muck. Come to find out, the driver was wanted in neighboring Hernando County and was arrested on charges of fleeing to elude, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and violation of probation.
