We have numerous rules and laws to keep dangerous drunk drivers off the road, but there is no law against driving drowsy, which according to a new study is just as dangerous as driving under the influence of alcohol. Not getting enough sleep or poor sleep can affect your mind and body as exhausted neurons respond more slowly, take longer and send weaker signals. The study could explain why being very tired feels a little like being drunk. And it might also explain why some of the symptoms are similar, like memory lapses and an ability to concentrate. Experts suggest you let someone else drive if you feel tired or if your concentration is compromised due to a lack of quality sleep.
