Not only is it Superbowl weekend, its Puppybowl weekend too! Animal Planet will once again show off adorable puppies and kittens in Puppy Bowl XIII starting at 3pm, including a half time performance by Kitty Gaga. And while you may want to treat your dog to a beverage to celebrate, experts chime in on common human drinks that aren't the best for dogs.  Beer might go with football and wings but it alcohol is toxic to dogs.  It can cause vomiting, diarrhea, decreased coordination, central nervous system depression, difficulty breathing, tremors, abnormal blood acidity, coma and even death.  Milk may seem like a safe drink for your dog but just like their owners, some dogs are lactose intolerant; meaning you could have an unexpected mess on the living room rug.  If you insist, give your dog a couple teaspoons to see their reaction and only give milk occasionally. Caffeine is bad news for dogs, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst and urination, tremors, seizures and possibly even death. So keep coffee, tea and soda away.  The best advice from vets is to keep it simple with dogs and stick with water.
