CVS Set To Roll Our All-In-One App Combining Payment Prescription Pickup and Rewards

August 12, 2016

There is one thing that businesses do well, use technology to get more money out of our pockets.  CVS announced the addition of adding your financial information  to its current app so you can multi-task all at one place.  So when you need to refill a prescription, you use the CVS app, log in, make the refill request and pay for it all at one time.  The idea isn't a new one, Walmart launched its Walmart Pay app which allows you to pay with your mobile device to compete with the standard Apple and Google pay platforms; all designed to eliminate steps to pay.  The CVS system combines all of the pharmacy services, so you have the ability to refill, manage multiple prescriptions, get alerts when prescriptions are ready, scan your ExtraCare card and pay with one unique barcode that is scanned at checkout. CVS rival, Walgreens app appears to be more user friendly but does not pair up payment information.  The CVS system is being tested in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, with a nationwide roll out later this year.
