The Clown Lobby Upset At Stephen King

August 29, 2017

Clowns are not laughing about their portrayal as psychopaths in the media and they're blaming Stephen King for the negative stigma.  The World Clown Association, which we'll refer to "Big Clown" in this bit, have issued a statement directly targeting Pennywise, the star of the "It" book, miniseries and movie and directly blame the character for clowns getting a bad rap.  They say Pennywise as well as other "horror characters" have dragged the good clown names through the mud.  They remind us that "the art of clown is something to be treasured" and they have  brought "a happy, joyful, creative, caring, positive, and fun experience to our audiences" and do not understand why their profession is targeted The statement goes on to say that "no one is picking on the Santa Claus, because that would ruin Christmas." Similarly, the group says no one associates a hockey players masks to the slasher, Jason or a rubber Captain Kirk mask inside out doesn't mean you are a machete-wielding killer either.  The statement from Big Clown isn't getting any sympathy to Pennywise's creator, Stephen King, who Tweeted, " The clowns are [peeved> at me.  Sorry, most are great but kids have always been scared of clowns.  Don't kill the messengers for the message."
