Black Friday Is Turning Out To Be Boring Friday as Retailers Just Repeat The Same Deals

November 4, 2016

If you've felt Deja vu when looking over the black Friday ads from retails over the past few years, or the newly "leaked" ads already out, you can breathe a sigh of relief that you are not going crazy.  Yes, much of the items on sale for black Friday are the same year after year.  According to the Wall Street Journal, an astonishing 80% of the items on the front covers of black Friday circulars are the same from year to year and yes, the prices generally are the same.  But why blame stores, as a spokesperson for one retail said the items appear year after year because people want to buy them year after year and that black Friday ads are intended to showcase the products our guests want, toys and small appliances.  Perhaps the dull deals are behind recent trends of stores to remain closed on Thanksgiving, as the sales are not strong enough to support operating costs when customers decide to pass on shopping and stay home.
