It took the 80s movie franchise, back To The Future, to turn a relatively obscure car into a cultural icon.  The DeLorean DMC-12 was only make between 1981 and 1983 but there are still a few of them around.  One of them is owned by Spencer White of Santa Clarita, California, who recently purchased his 1982 model about a month ago.  Last Friday he was taking his mother for a drive on the freeway and as they were cruising down the highway, Spencer glanced down at the speedometer and noticed he was traveling at 85mph.  He remarked to his mother about the speed, which obviously lead to thoughts of what happens when the DeLorean reaches 88mph.  Spencer said he mother looked at him and said, "Take it up to 88, let's do it".  Although Spencer said it was only for a couple for seconds, it was enough to catch the attention of a highway patrol officer, who pulled them over for speeding.  When many would be cringing at the thought of a speeding ticket, Spencer reportedly was grinning from ear to ear when the officer said he clocked his DeLorean at 88mph.  The officer, also understanding the nostalgia of the movie showed Spencer his radar gun which was displaying double 8s. However traveling that fast without a flux capacitor was costly as the fine was $400.  But Spender said he sees it as a dream ticket and sees it as the perfect souvenir.
