ATM Fees Hit New High

October 6, 2016

Hurricane Matthew isn't the only news topic making records, a new report out says ATM fees to pull out your own cash has reached a new high.  If you go to pull out cash from an out-of-network ATM machine, you'll pay on average a 23% fee for the privilege.  The national average fee is around $4.50, with even higher fees becoming more common.  All the more reason to pull cash from your own bank's ATM or check with your bank to see if they participate in a larger ATM network. Some do, to provide their customers with more widespread access.  Another baking record that may be shattered this year are overdraft fees.  The average charge for overdrawing your checking account is $33, which is 1/10 of a percent lower than last year.  However 2 1/2 months remain as we head into the holiday shopping season. Avoid overdraft fees by setting up text or email alerts so you know when your balance is low.
