Artificial Sweetener can lead to weight gain

July 18, 2017

Here's another argument for just putting regular sugar in your coffee. New data published in the Candadian Medical Association Journal reveals drinking one drink with artificial sugar per day can lead to a higher risk of weight gain, obesity, diabetes and heart disesase. The scientists followed more than 400,000 people for about 10 years to gather their data. Still, the findings don't prove that the artificial sweeteners themselves necessarily cause weight gain, it could be another factor. Ultimately, scientists say that futher research is needed to "fully characterize the long term risks and benefits of nonnutritive sweeteners".
