App Calculates How Much Sun Exposure You Need For Vitamin D Production

June 14, 2018

There are repeated pleas from doctors and medical experts to stay out of direct sunlight as much as possible.  However our bodies do need the rays from the sun to create vitamin D, a vital nutrient for our bodies.  While we get vitamin D from food and supplements, the same UVB rays that cause a sun burn is still the most natural way to get it. But how much sun you should get varies from person to person and season to season.  Enter the Dminder app. The app take in where you live, how dark your skin is (darker skin tones need more sunlight), your age, the amount of clothing being worn and how much vitamin D did you consume from food or supplements.  It then calculates when and how long you need sun exposure.  The app will signal you when you've reached your limit and will keep track of your results.  The free app is available for Apple and Android.
