Airplane Full Of Plumbers Forced To Land Due To Broken Toilet

February 1, 2018

:  The definition of irony is the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.  You might consider Norwegian Air Flight 1156 a textbook case of ironic. Tuesday morning the flight lifted off from Oslo, Norway, heading to Munich, Germany with 105 passengers.  About 20 minutes after takeoff the airplane began to make a U-turn back towards Oslo, circling four times to burn excess fuel to ensure a safe landing.  There is a major problem on the aircraft. It appeared none of the toilets were operational and maintenance would be required.  The irony of flight 1156 is that of the 105 passengers on board 85 were plumbers heading towards a trade show; 65 of them from the same company!  One plumber stated "We would have liked to fix the restrooms, but unfortunately it had to be done from the outside and we didn't risk sending a plumber to work at [30, 000 feet]." Once on the ground, engineers inspected the lavatories and found the source of the problem and repaired it. The flight arrived about 3 and a half hours late.
