It's a real struggle between kids who seem to always been their smartphone and the parents who are trying to limit that time.  So if your child has an Android phone, listen up and learn about the new Google feature. Last year Google Family Link was launched  as a way for parents keep track of what a child under the age of 13 is doing on an Android device, ranging from app installation to amount of time spent using any given app or the device overall. Now Family Link allows parents to set screen time limits, lock devices when it’s time for a break, approve or block apps downloaded from the Play Store, and locate their kids through their devices. Family Lock pairs perfectly with Google Assistant.  So if it's time for dinner all you have to do is say, “Hey Google, lock Johnny’s device,” and they’ll have five minutes to wrap up before the phone locks. For even more control, the voice commands The Google Assistant update also adds family-friendly content for accounts managed by Family Link. Google Assistant can recognize up to six different voices, and if it hears a child that it recognizes asking questions, it will provide kid-friendly responses. For example, if your child says, “Hey Google, check for monsters”, it’ll make laser noises as if it’s scanning the room for monsters, and then say, “All clear!” To be fair, Google set up a rule for anyone over 13 that both parties must agree before the monitoring can begin. But let's say your teen decides to opt-out of Family Link, they certainly as they emerge into adulthood. However this will cause the phone onto 24-hour lockdown to allow parents time to consult their teen as to the reason why. The new Family Lock features are available now through the free app for both Android and iPhone (iOS), which can be downloaded at Google Play and Apple’s iTunes.
