Plan For A Healthier Halloween

October 24, 2018

Halloween is a week away and even being on a Wednesday, you will need to prepare for tick-or-treaters making their way through the neighborhood. Generally we're entering the time of year when our eating habits are easily swept up in unhealthy food choices.  So health, fitness and wellness experts offer some advice on how to stay mindful of what you're eating during this sugary time of year. Let’s be honest, if you want to avoid candy, then don't have it in your house.  As a neighbor or friend to store your candy until Halloween.  However a easier hack is to hold off on buying it until the very last minute. But if you just could pass up a good candy deal, store it out of sight. Store your candy out of the kitchen, perhaps the guest room closet or garage so that it isn't tempting when you are searching your pantry or refrigerator for food. As for handing out candy, health experts suggest bagging it up in small portions to avoid overindulging. You can offer healthier treats without risking your home getting egged or tp-ed. Opt for organic treats that are sweetened with healthier ingredients than cane sugar, like Stevia or honey. It'll help both you and your trick-or-treaters stay healthy during Halloween.
