Block Email Tracking Software With A Free Web Extension

March 28, 2019

Many of us have more than a few unread emails in our inbox. Let's face it, there's a lot of email in your inbox and some of them are tracking your reading habits. Using an email tracking service, senders can check whether or not you opened their email, and in some cases, where you read it and on what kind of device. If that seems a little creepy then you will want to install Ugly Email on to your web browser.  If a message is embedded with a tracker, Ugly Email marks it with an eyeball icon next to the subject line. But what makes Ugly Email a hero is it also blocks email tracking services, so you can open the message without tipping off the sender. The free plug in is available for Chrome and Firefox and while Ugly Email looks to keep your email habits private, it doesn't work on all email tracking software.  However it does on nearly 30 of the most common trackers, including MailChimp, TinyLetter, and Postmark.
