Video calls have made the world smaller and for some it has shown the world the chaotic state of your home!  Some good news for the slob in all of us, last week video conferencing service, Skype, announced it was a blurred background feature so you can obscure your mess with dignity. The new feature relies on artificial intelligence to detect hair, hands, and arms to identify you and blur everything else, sort of like the portrait mode feature found in most modern smartphones. It's simple to active too. Hover over the Skype video button and select “blur my background.” It should subtly conceal your surroundings while leaving you in focus. However you shouldn't feel free to not tidy up somewhat. Background blur is available on desktops and laptops running the latest version of Skype, but the feature is still somewhat experimental, which means there may be some hiccups and perhaps an embarrassing view of your dirty underwear on the couch may be broadcast clearly! While the blur technology is a step in the right direction, you still may want to put on PJ bottoms before you begin your Skype session!
